Every row change, live, on your servers
Subscribe to inserts, updates and deletes the moment they commit, straight from your own database. No third-party cloud in the middle.
From off to streaming in four commands
Logical decoding is opt-in, so nothing changes on main until you ask for it.
- 1
Get ready
fox realtime setup readies the databases for a change feed. It restarts main once.
- 2
Check a table
fox realtime doctor says what can stream, what needs changing and what cannot; prepare fixes it and records the change in the Blackbox.
- 3
Turn it on
fox realtime enable orders streams a table, for every event or just the ones you pick.
- 4
Hand out a key
fox realtime key create mints a stream-only key, and fox realtime url prints the connection string for your app.
Server-Sent Events, or one call in the SDK
Subscribe from the TypeScript or Python SDK, or read the stream over plain HTTP. Every event carries its commit position, so the client always knows where it is.
The stream lives at /realtime/v1/branches/{name}/stream on the console port. Add ?transactions=1 for begin and commit frames.
$ fox realtime setup --yes $ fox realtime enable orders --events insert, update, delete $ fox realtime key create main --name storefront $ fox realtime url main fox-realtime://rtk_…@127.0.0.1:8080/main?sslmode=require
Drop off, come back, miss nothing
Replay after a reconnect
The feed keeps its place when the last subscriber leaves. Reconnect with ?since= and it replays what you missed; the SDKs do this for you.
Bounded, so main is safe
Replay is held within a WAL budget, 1 GB by default. A subscriber that falls too far behind gets a clear resync notice instead of filling the disk.
Survives failover
Subscribers keep their place through a high-availability failover.
Know what streaming costs
Activity meter
fox realtime activity shows what keeping the feed warm has cost over the last day, and fox realtime slots shows the WAL each one holds.
In the console
Watch changes arrive per table on the Realtime page, and turn tables on and off from there.
Realtime is part of Enterprise.
Start with Standard today and switch in place when you need the live feed.
